Dentures

Dentures are available as removable substitutions for missing teeth and tissue. Dentures are available in complete and partial forms.

COMPLETE DENTURES

Complete dentures can either be in two ways.

Conventional dentures: They are made after all the teeth are removed and gum tissue has already started healing. These dentures can be placed in the mouth 8 to 12 weeks after the teeth have been removed.

Immediate dentures: They are made before any teeth are removed and can be placed as soon as they are. There is no healing period, unlike conventional dentures. However, after the teeth are removed, bones and gums shrink more quickly, requiring adjustments more often in order for them to fit properly. Immediate dentures are generally considered a temporary solution.

PARTIAL DENTURES

Partial dentures, also known as bridges, are replacement teeth made of plastic connected by a metal framework which keep the dentures in place. If there are one or more natural teeth in the mouth, partial denture can be replaced.

Sometimes, artificial teeth are attached to the crowns on the teeth either side of the empty spaces left by the missing teeth to make them permanent.

The partial denture is then bond to prevent the other teeth from changing position. The Precision partial dentures have internal attachments that are connected to the adjacent crown instead of clasps which gives a more natural removable

It is encouraged for patient to consult with their companies to get more information because some dentures are partially or totally insured

When the process is done, eating and speaking may be hard at first. You should start off eating soft foods over the few weeks until the dentures feel more natural. Then you can then work your way back to your original diet. The patient should avoid hot, hard, or sharp-edged foods while wearing dentures.

Dentures are usually worn during the day and are removed during sleep. However, dentists may instruct users to wear them all the time for the first several days in order to identify which areas need adjustments.

Loose dentures should be readjusted or replaced if needed. Denture adhesives should only be used in if the dentures are loose-fitting or have not been evaluated for a long time. The situations where they can be used are for people with dry mouth conditions or musicians.
